Commissioning
A clear route to machine commissioning on South African factory floors, for teams already familiar with CNC and laser installs.
How Commissioning fits into a real production week
Our commissioning page covers what needs to be in place before a CNC or laser machine is started on a South African site. Use it to line up floor space, power, access, and the handover details needed for install and first run.
Commissioning starts with the site file, not the start button. Record incoming power, earthing, compressed air quality, extraction status, rigging access, and the space needed to unload and position the CNC or laser unit. Conditions differ between Gauteng, Durban, Cape Town, and smaller industrial sites, so the machine handover must reflect the actual building and utility setup.
Take clear photos before crates are opened and again once the machine is placed. Include the control cabinet, chiller, extractor, cable runs, and any transport damage so the install record shows what changed on site. Those images help when aligning axes, checking service clearances, and documenting faults found before first power-up.
Site handover pack
The commissioning record should show the machine model, serial details, fitted options, utility readings, and the checks completed before first run. Add alarm history, axis reference status, lubrication confirmation, and trial material notes. That gives the buyer one usable document for install follow-up and after-sales support.
Before energising the machine, compare delivered items against the approved accessories list and note any shortages on the site sheet. Send the commissioning brief through the contact form with machine details, utility status, and faults found during unloading or placement. Include the exact plant location so the install record matches the correct South African site.
- Power, air, extraction, and access checked
- Alarm list captured before first cut
- Photos attached to the site record
Utility checks before first power
Commissioning on South African sites often turns on building services rather than the machine alone. Older factories can have voltage variation, limited door height, weak lighting at the install bay, or forklift constraints that affect placement and testing. Note any generator changeover, transformer limits, or municipal supply issues before planning the first production sample.
Coastal installations need closer attention on electrical cabinets, bare metal surfaces, and stored consumables because moisture changes how equipment sits after delivery. Inland sites usually need stricter housekeeping around rails, lenses, fans, and sensors where dust builds up quickly. During first run, log the approved material, cutting parameters, and any resets after load-shedding or emergency stops.

Commissioning checks for CNC and laser
Send the commissioning brief with site photos, timing, utilities status, and any faults already found. Use a subject line that states the machine and site.
Log the commissioning note while the install details are still fresh and the site record is complete. Pair this sheet with the project summary and machine resource pack when the buyer asks for supporting records.
