Install Checklist
A hands-on install checklist for CNC and laser equipment in South Africa, from offloading and placement to commissioning readiness.
Arrival prep for CNC and laser installs
Use the Install Checklist to prepare for a CNC or laser machine arriving from China to your South African workshop. It covers offloading, moving the machine into position, utility connections, and the checks needed before commissioning starts.
Use this checklist before the truck reaches your workshop. It covers offloading points, doorway widths, rigging space, slab condition, and whether forklifts, skates, or a crane are needed for the machine size. South African sites often need extra attention on three phase supply, earthing, compressed air quality, and access rules at industrial parks.
Include clear photos from the gate to the machine position. Images of steps, ramps, drain channels, low beams, and cable trays help flag handling risks before the crate is opened. Mark the final machine location as well, especially where levelling pads, extraction ducting, or a chiller must fit nearby.
What the checklist captures
The install checklist records the practical details that affect placement and commissioning. That includes machine dimensions against access openings, unloading equipment on hand, utility connection points, and any snags found in the bay. It creates one working record for the importer, installer, and site contact.
Send the completed checklist through the contact form with notes on the access route and install area. Add the machine type, delivery suburb, available lifting equipment, and the current status of power, air, water, or extraction where relevant. If any damage, missing parts, or site restrictions have been noticed, note them clearly on the checklist.
- Door widths, heights, and turning room
- Forklift, crane, or skate requirements
- Power, air, water, extraction status
Site checks that matter in SA
Many workshops have tight yard access, shared loading zones, or booking rules for larger vehicles. Older buildings may need checks on slab level, roof clearance, and DB board capacity before a CNC router, fibre laser, or press brake is moved inside. Estates around Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town also often require named contacts and fixed arrival times for delivery vehicles.
Power stability should be checked before commissioning starts, especially where outages or changeovers are common. Coastal workshops need extra attention on moisture around electrical cabinets and stored optics, while inland sites may battle dust around rails, fans, and sensors. For laser equipment, confirm extraction routing and safe gas bottle placement before first power-up.

Records to send with the form
Share the install checklist with floor photos, access times, power readiness, and any problems already found on site. Keep the subject line clear and specific.
Attach the checklist together with site photos and any notes from offloading or positioning. If the machine has reached the bay, include pictures of the crate condition, accessories laid out, and utility points beside the machine. This makes it easier to review readiness for levelling, connection, and commissioning steps.
