Pe Line

A clear process for a PE line, from China supplier selection through delivery, installation, and commissioning in South Africa.

What Pe Line handles in a live manufacturing week

The PE line page is for Eastern Cape buyers building or expanding a production line with imported equipment. It explains the route from Chinese supplier selection to delivery, installation, and commissioning in South Africa.

Begin with the product being made on the PE line, whether that is pipe, film, sheet, or profile, then state the target output per hour. Water quality for cooling, available three phase supply, ceiling height, and forklift movement around the line all shape the supplier shortlist. Conditions differ between Gauteng plants, Durban sites near the coast, and factories in the Eastern Cape where space and utility constraints often decide the layout.

Send photos of the extrusion area before any buying decision is locked in. Images of the power board, water points, drainage, and where raw material is stored help define tank length, haul-off position, and safe access for maintenance. A PE line that fits the drawing but not the building creates delays during installation and first start-up.

PE line handover pack

The page centres on what has to be agreed before a PE line leaves China for South Africa. That includes the machine configuration, utility demand, included tooling, and the checks to be done before dispatch and again during commissioning. For extrusion equipment, small omissions around die sets, calibration sleeves, or spares become expensive once the line is on site.

Tie the PE line enquiry to the relevant Routes entry and a matching Ship notes record before adding extra equipment. Pre-shipment inspection should verify extruder size, gearbox and motor data, die tooling, vacuum and cooling sections, haul-off, cutter or winder, and the spares listed on the order.

  • Output matched to product size range
  • Utility points checked before line placement
  • Photos logged against the equipment brief

Site conditions that change setup

PE lines need more than enough floor area for the machine itself. Cooling water circulation, drainage, resin handling, scrap collection, and access for loading dies or changing screen packs all matter during planning. In older South African factories, doorway width, slab condition, and extraction around heated polymer processing can affect where the line can actually stand.

Coastal humidity can influence storage of electrical parts and resin packaging, while inland dust reaches fans, panels, and moving sections if housekeeping is weak. Load-shedding planning also matters, especially when heaters, vacuum systems, and haul-off control need stable restart procedures after a stop. First sample approval should be recorded with temperature settings, line speed, wall thickness or gauge readings, and the raw material grade used on the day.

Commissioning records for extrusion

Share the Pe Line requirement with floor photos, expected throughput, delivery timing, and what on the current line is failing, jamming, or falling behind. Keep the subject line clear.

Keep a written note of the first successful PE line settings once installation and commissioning are complete. Record barrel and die temperatures, screw speed, cooling conditions, haul-off speed, cutter or winder settings, and any alarms seen during the run. That document helps when the same product is started again later, or when a different shift takes over the line.
