Coastal Landing specs

Setup notes and briefing numbers for Coastal Landing.

Port arrival and site access points

This Coastal Landing specs page sets out the practical details for port arrival, inland delivery, and site access. Use it to check what is included before a CNC or laser machine moves from the container to your premises in South Africa.

The landing details matter once a CNC or laser cell reaches South Africa. Record container arrival, off-loading method, truck approach, doorway sizes, and any lifting gear needed to move the machine from port release to its final position. Durban harbour conditions, Cape Town weather delays, and inland routing to Gauteng all affect the handling plan.

Include clear photos of the gate, yard, loading bay, and the exact spot where the machine will stand. Those images help confirm turning space for a rigging truck, the width of roller doors, and whether steps, drains, or low beams will block entry. A short note on slab thickness and available power nearby also prevents avoidable rework on delivery day.

What the landing sheet covers

The finished spec sets out what is included from container unpack to placement on site. It normally lists crate dimensions, machine mass, centre-of-gravity concerns, forklift or crane requirements, and whether installation starts after positioning or on a separate visit. You get one working record for transport, receiving, and handover.

Check the machine order, the shipping file, and the destination workshop layout before the vessel departs China. If a chiller, extractor, rotary unit, or spare lens set is travelling separately, record that so nothing is missed at unpacking. Use the contact form if you need to send access notes, off-loading restrictions, or a marked-up site sketch for the landing file.

  • Door widths checked against crate size
  • Off-load method noted before dispatch
  • Power point position logged for install

South African delivery conditions to record

Many sites need more than a street address. Note whether access runs through an industrial park, a shared yard, a basement receiving area, or a factory with tight turning circles for a superlink or rigid truck. Also record booking rules at the port collection point, warehouse cut-off times, and any municipal limits on heavy vehicle access.

Coastal humidity can affect exposed steel, electrical cabinets, and packing condition after sea transit. Inland sites often raise different issues such as dust, uneven concrete, and longer final-haul distances from Durban or Cape Town. If load-shedding is common at the destination, add the available backup supply and the best window for commissioning tests.

Checks before unpacking on site

List the serial-marked crates, inspect for impact damage, and photograph every side before bands or covers are removed. Confirm that the unloading equipment on site matches the mass shown on the packing list. If the machine must pass through a narrower opening, record whether guards, tables, or external covers are to be removed first.

Keep this sheet with the bill of lading copy, packing list, and installation notes for the same machine. That gives the buyer, transporter, and rigging crew one reference when questions come up about access, included items, or delivery conditions.
