Install Team specs
Setup notes and briefing numbers for Install Team.
Arrival access and rigging points
This Install Team specs page explains the installation scope, site requirements, and handover checks for machine setup in South Africa. It helps production teams prepare the floor, power, and access before arrival.
Before the installation crew is booked, we note the machine footprint, crate sizes, unloading method, and the route from gate to final position. South African sites often need checks for roller shutter height, forklift capacity, slab condition, and turning room for riggers. Where a CNC or laser cell is moving into an existing production area, isolation of nearby traffic and stock is listed in the setup brief.
Site photos should show the entrance, the machine bay, the power point, and any obstruction above the install area. Include distances if there is a tight corner, a step, or a narrow passage near the bay. Those images help the install team confirm lifting gear, placement direction, and where unpacking must happen.
Handover checks at machine side
The install record covers levelling, utility connection, guarding, lubrication status, and the first powered checks. Operators receive the settings that matter on day one, including reference positions, emergency stop verification, and basic maintenance points. Handover also notes which items remain client supplied, such as extraction ducting, compressor line, or material racks.
Use the install specification sheet to tie the machine model, selected options, and site services to one working document. It should match the packing list from China and the final layout approved for the South African plant.
- Door heights, widths, and bay access
- Power, air, extraction, and drainage noted
- Operator sign-off after first test cycle
Utilities for SA machine setups
Most installation delays come from missing services rather than missing parts. The spec pack records supply voltage, breaker size, earth point, compressed air pressure, and whether extraction or chiller water must be ready before power-on. Older factories in Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town also need cable route checks where trenching, mezzanine supports, or shared distribution boards affect the final connection.
Coastal sites need extra attention on storage and protection before commissioning because salt air can mark untreated surfaces and electrical enclosures. Inland workshops usually need stronger housekeeping around dust, especially near linear guides, optics, and control cabinets. Where load-shedding or generator changeover is part of the site reality, the first test sequence must be planned around stable supply conditions.

Commissioning record and operator briefing
List the names of the people who will attend commissioning, plus the material prepared for the first cut, bend, or run. The install team also needs to know what consumables are on hand, what language the operator guidance should use, and whether any permit rules apply inside the plant.
Once the machine is positioned and connected, the commissioning sheet records alarm checks, axis movement, safety devices, and the first accepted sample where applicable. Keep that record with the project file so maintenance staff, supervisors, and procurement can refer to the same handover details later.
