Multi Site

A practical route for supplying machinery across multiple South African sites, written for teams who already coordinate more than one floor.

How Multi Site runs in a typical week

Multi Site is for South African companies placing imported machines at more than one branch, factory or workshop. It helps coordinate what ships where, how each site is prepared, and which spares, training and install notes belong with each machine.

Begin with the machine type, planned output, and the limits at each branch or workshop. Highveld dust, coastal moisture, load-shedding, forklift reach, and port or courier timing can change how a multi-site rollout is scheduled. We map deliveries across Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, and outlying industrial areas where one inspection on site often answers more than another drawing.

Send photos from every machine position, not only the best-prepared site. One branch may have compressed air and extraction ready while another still needs cable trays, anchors or a levelled base. That comparison helps keep spares, manuals and install steps attached to the correct machine instead of drifting between sites.

Branch-by-branch machine rollout

The output is a site allocation record, a receiving checklist and a clear install sequence for each destination. Machine serials, accessories, training needs and spare packs are tied to the right branch before cargo leaves China. That matters when one site cuts mild steel all day and another runs shorter jobs on mixed material.

Link Multi Site with the relevant Routes note and a Ship notes entry before adding extra destinations. Ask for the final inspection set to show machine options, voltage, tooling and packed accessories against the approved order. Sourcing requests should cover the machine type, the controller you prefer and the port or town it must reach.

  • Site allocation fixed before dispatch
  • Photo record for each install bay
  • One record per branch contact

Checks that differ by region

A machine headed to Ekurhuleni is not handled the same way as one bound for Durban South or Montague Gardens. Some premises have easy container access, while others need transfer to smaller trucks, timed unloading or weekend receiving approval. Record who signs at each branch and where consumables, manuals and spare lenses will be stored.

Sea air near the coast changes how cabinets, rails and electrical connections should be checked after arrival. Inland dust and unstable power supply affect filters, sensor cleaning and the timing of first-cut testing. On multi-site jobs, keep acceptance samples labelled by branch so results from one workshop are not mistaken for another.

Information to send first

Set out the Multi Site brief with photos from each location, required dates, and what has already failed. Name the subject line properly.

List every branch, machine type and target use in one message while the details are fresh. Add site photos, delivery restrictions, contact names and any failed parts that need comparison with the incoming machine. Keep that file with purchase records and shipping documents so each location can trace what was approved for its own equipment.
